This is the third book in the Magical Mane Mystery series. Our MC Ellie Vanderwick, her piggy Penelope and VW van Mona, are preparing for the annual town Holiday Play. Ellie is at the theater after hours with Xander, when they witness a murder, via stage trap door.

Ellie knows there's something magical going on with the murder, so she sets about trying to find the killer. This book adds in a new relation to Ellie, Harriet, and there is more Xander too. Ellie even learns a bit more about her family.

I really enjoyed this, story and Penelope was totally a kick ass pig, when she went all protective and saved Ellie's life. Another excellent, and fun, cozy mystery. Definitely recommend this series for fans of animal sidekicks, cozy mysteries and a little magic.

I will preface this review with how excited I was to have a new Riley book, and how much I've been looking forward to this. It did not let me down.

This book had Riley and crew on the hunt for a book of demon spells in Los Angeles, which seems fitting. I love that Riley was able to drag Kali along to LA on their hunt this time. Although their trip doesn't go exactly as planned.

Riley has a lot of other issues screaming for her attention in this book like the fact that the head witch of the local Coven wants Riley under her control and Volkov can only do so much to hold her off.

I love how dedicated to team building Riley is, and was very disappointed in the team, TBH, (even if I despise Karaoke personally).

This book has it all, not one heist, but several. A super hot and growly shifter, who totally respects boundaries. A Rooster named Garth, who is more than he appeared (I KNEW IT!!) I love Garth, and wasn't it obvious that he was smarter than your average chicken?

Favorite quote: "There were only two things that could cheer me up after a meeting like that—barbecue or breaking and entering. I started with the barbecue."

I recommend that you read this is series if you enjoy Urban Fantasy with a feisty and kick ass female MC, found family, magical heists of all kinds, and a slow but sweet romance with a grumpy shifter.
