The Book of Bill by Alex Hirsch
5.0
OMG I missed Gravity Falls so much!! Having something slightly more adult is so fun and it was so entertaining and interactive! I'm glad Alex Hirsch is so careful with the stories he makes, and only releases content when it adds to the story for plot, not just because he wants more money from it. Thank you Alex!!
The Metamorphosis by Franz Kafka

I listened to this as an audiobook, and it was great! Short and easy to imagine/wrap my mind around, and with a lot of interesting implications and ideas about family dynamics and our bodies.
None of the Above: Reflections on Life beyond the Binary by Travis Alabanza

Thank you for this book, Travis! I loved reading a trans perspective that is so similar and yet different from my own, and I caught a lot of similarities between this and a paper I wrote for a class about my gender. Travis speaks so clearly to me, and I enjoyed the bits of humor interspersed with serious thought. An amazing read.
The Ballad of Songbirds and Snakes by Suzanne Collins

I feel like the ending could have been a little longer/more established but I really missed the tone of Hunger Games books & the way that Suzanne Collins writes! Loved this book a ton and seeing that perspective of the world she's crafted. Definitely recommend!
Thirsty Mermaids by Kat Leyh

Super cute and fun! Loved the art style and concept and characters. Quick read but I definitely recommend it.
Judas by Jeff Loveness

Very very beautiful art, and a very compelling story - I loved the mix ins of Bible verses. I'm not Christian so I didn't understand a fair amount of references to other stories, but this still carried a beautiful message.

This was a really fun way to present an interesting psychology concept!
The Starless Sea by Erin Morgenstern

The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstern

AMAZING. Literally probably up there with Starless Sea as one of my favorite books ever. The way that Morgenstern writes, jumping between stories and times, is so amazing and scratches my brain just right. The characters are all so alive and vivid in my mind, and you can tell she has such a passion for writing good stories from how high quality they are. I am so excited to see her next book, and I'll be thinking about Might Circus for a long time.
Orange Is the New Black: My Time in a Women's Prison by Piper Kerman
4.0
It was really awesome to get to take a look into the women's side of prison, because most of these stories I've read in the past are of a man's perspective. Kerman is really good at emotional connection, both to herself, others, and the reader. I didn't even know it was a book before the show. I definitely recommend it!
