pretty simple concept that i’ve read about in more modern, well rounded, and fun to read works like steal like an artist that offer more than just one kinda obvious idea and are therefore more worth your time assuming you’re looking for a quality read and not just straight up information and literally nothing else (though i’m sure it was more revolutionary when it was published so i don’t mean to entirely yuck mr. webb young’s yum but also austin kleon is just objectively more engaging so oh well, sucks to suck i guess, old guy 😬)

pacing was a bit wonky. love how the historical stuff was interwoven into the story. the descriptions were very visceral and easy to relate to which made the story’s overall sense of tension and fear very tangible. the ending was rushed and some of the dialogue was quite a bit corny and felt dated despite it being published only 5 years ago since almost too much very 2020 slang was incorporated

A+ sex scenes like omg. very sweet yet predictable ending. kind of slow but still heartwarming, especially all of the lovely found family bits.
