Alright. This was my first Xianxia novel and did I love it? YES.
The translation was not great, it was a bit off but leaving that aside, I really liked the world building and the plot. I'm so impressed. The characters are great. I absolutely love Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian. This makes me so happy and I can't wait to finish the whole series!

This book is manipulative and unrealistic (although that's exactly how every other Colleen Hoover's books are like). Yes, it did a good job in portraying the facade of a healthy relationship which actually is toxic but no, the things that Ryle did when he was supposed to be a good guy were hella creepy and definitely not romantic (atleast for me). I just don't know how could someone just read this book and be like 'oh my god Ryle is so romantic. I want a man like him'. And Atlas was just like every other unrealistic book boyfriend who's perfect and would do anything for you. That's just so repetitive, cringy and a big Cliché in all these YA romance novels.
To be really honest, I'm just frustrated because as the people were describing this book, I had expectations from it but unfortunately it just made me dislike it even more. I don’t hate it but I definitely don't like it. And I can kind of see why people love it but that just can't be me.

Aaron motherfucking Warner.
I feel like nothing happened in this book aside from the relationship drama. It was really slow. I mean the actual plot happened when the book was nearing its end and that too was super rushed. I just wanna know, why?
This is supposed to be a dystopian novel, yet it focuses more on the romance. I like characters-driven plot but I want something to fucking happen that moves the plot forward!
Now about the characters, Juliette has grown a lot since the last book, that's what I feel. She has become more mature and calm and she knows how to handle the situations way better than she did before. I was proud of her when she stood up for herself against Adam. I was proud that she had turned from a whiny weak little girl to a fierce, powerful woman who knows her worth. God I'm so glad.
Kenji is always the best. I love him. I love him with all my heart. I love the friendship between Juliette and Kenji. Them being bestfriends is my therapy. It makes me giggle and I so want to have a friend like Kenji.
Now I don't have to say anything about Warner. He was the plot. I liked how the things are going between him and Juliette. He's way better than Adam. No, Adam doesn't even compare. Everybody wants someone like Aaron Warner I know.
Adam made me hate him even more than I hated him already. Him being a bitch, forcing Juliette, putting her down just because she was interested in Warner and then telling her to drop dead, I was infuriated. He literally went insane and I was sick of that drama because it was stretched a lot. And he just couldn't get it. Such a whiny piece of shit.
Now I liked that this book didn't have nonsensical metaphors in it. But I still think that the military aspect and dystopian aspect of this world is poorly done. It's supposed to be the main plot but it's not. We're supposed to see plot going on but what we get is the dramatic brawl between a girl who finally starts to stand up on her feet and a boy who just can't believe that the girl can be independent and not a damsel in distress. The ending was dramatic and rushed. It felt like a poor Marvel scene of Avengers being assembled.
I liked this book at times, I laughed and was excited and was rooting for Aaron and Juliette but there were still bad things. I've also rated Unravel me 3 stars and this book was better than Unravel me but doesn't deserve a 4 star rating from me.

Fracture me was unnecessary. I felt like I was forced to read it and I'm glad it was just 70 pages. Tahereh Mafi overlapped so much of the same material and content that we already read in Unravel me. It was so freaking boring. When I knew it was from Adam's pov, I knew I wasn't gonna have a good time but half of it was just going over stuff we already read in Unravel me but like little bits from his perspective which I didn't find interesting as expected.
Also, Adam was like Juliette shouldn't have come with him and Kenji in the battle field because she would have been safer back at Omega point.
Like bitch please.
She's literally the one with lethal touch and superhuman abilities that can put a crack in earth or destroy concrete walls.

"Sometimes I wonder about glue. No one ever stops to ask glue how it’s holding up. If it’s tired of sticking things together or worried about falling apart or wondering how it will pay its bills next week."
What the actual fuck?
And there are lot more like these thrown in the book. Not gonna lie, I'm aggravated. I get that Adam has blue eyes, can Juliette just fucking stop saying thay every god damn time. These metaphors are infuriating me to an extent that makes me want to stop reading but I still do read because like everyone, I like Kenji. A lot. He's THE best thing in this series. He's superior to all the other characters in this series. He's so funny and witty and when he put Juliette in her place, god I so loved that scene.
Now speaking about the girl, her whines are still pretty annoying. Juliette in this book was completely ignorant and it was so hard to read because she never thought about anything and immediately reacted, ended up taking pretty much bad decisions all the time. She was so codependent in the relationship. I'm glad they broke up, I wanted them to break up because she knew nothing other than Adam and just Adam. She had no life, no purpose, just whining and making out with Adam. And I hate Adam as well that he just can't accept the fact that she had broken up with him and followed her everywhere, begging for love.
So the first part of the book was quite boring like nothing was happening at all. When Warner was back in the scene, I was in relief. And I like him. He's changed a lot. It does seem a bit weird to see him as the polar opposite of what he was shown as earlier but nonetheless I get why he has so many fans. Although I still don't get why he had to go back to his father and betray Omega Point (Idk if it would even be considered as a betrayal).
And I kinda guessed that they were both brothers. It was just a thought in the back of my mind and turned out to be true. So it wasn't a big surprise. And talking about his father, the Supreme commander of North America, a freaking continent lures this girl in a house and gets shot in both legs and gets crippled, like idk it's just so unbelievable.
And I think the military tactics, the warfare, it was just dumb okay. It was poorly done. The fact that Reestablishment had 500 soldiers against 50, with guns, futuristic weapons, freaking tanks and bombs and they were against a woman in a tree with knives and arrows...
They need a new strategist. Like for real.
And the book seemed a lot similar to Hunger Games then I had anticipated. In Hunger Games, District 12 was destroyed and here Omega Point was. In Hunger Games, there was District 13, a revolution against Capitol and here it was Omega Point against the Reestablishment. Also Gale and Adam are so similar. But guess our brown haired girls got hots for the blondes.

Maybe I judged Warner too early in the first book. Maybe I don't dislike him now.
So this book pretty much tried to ease all of Warner's red flags. He was forced to do everything that he did and I see why he is the way he is. The insight of his perspective doesn't excuse anything he did but I do feel bad for him as you can see that he's the product of how his father had treated (abused) him in his childhood. Knowing that Warner wasn't actually a literal psychopath is a relief to me but I still don't necessarily like him that much to be honest. He lowkey gave me Draco Malfoy's vibes.
And I know that Juliette was and is hurting, I know she had a traumatic past and I know she deserves more but god her whines are so annoying. I don't want to feel like this but I can't help it.

Alright. This book was just okay.
Not gonna lie, the best part about this book was Kenji. I liked him a lot as a character. To be really honest, I needed to read about a character like him.
Now moving on to the things I disliked...
Well, the first and foremost thing that gave me an ick was that this was supposed to be a Dystopian level but I didn't see as much of it as I wanted. Romance was the main plot, atleast that's what the book appeared to be. There were mentions of the world in the first few pages but then they never showed everything in detail. I got the vibes of Hunger Games from the book but this doesn't compare to the Hunger Games.
I found Juliette really annoying. I understand her trauma and identity crisis but sometimes she just needed to shut the fuck up. Also the love between Adam and Juliette didn't feel real to me. They had never even spoke to each other before. It felt like Juliette had confused her sense of feeling "alive" with love. It was the first time that she could touch someone else or do things that humans do and so she associated that sense of freedom with selfless love.
Adam's dialogues were cringy. Maybe it's because I don't really like Romance as such but they felt too corny to me. I seriously don't know why but I just don't like their relationship or Adam at all. Something just doesn't feel right. It doesn't feel real.
Speaking of disliking the characters, well uh Warner. Why are people literally in love with him? He's a freaking psychopath. I won't say that I hate him, no but I don't like him either. But then again there are 10 more books in the series so I hope to see a character development but seriously if he doesn't change at all, then all his fans are maniacs.
Now the writing style of this book is something that I haven't read before or maybe I'm just not used to it. The author had used a lot of metaphors (more than necessary for God's sake). So I could be biased because I don't like such similes and metaphors thrown all throughout the book, like some of them didn't even make sense or maybe I'm just dumb. Regardless, I was irritated by them.
The last few chapters got me. If those chapters weren't included in this book, there's a 90% chance that I never would have wanted to read more books in the series but now that it's caught my attention, I'm looking forward for more. I really hope that the things get better and I'm curious to know about all those people with gifts.
