Thanks Negalley for the advanced copy in exchange for a review. This is one of the most phenomenal books on motherhood and pregnancy that I have ever read. I have no children, but I read the book Little Labors last year and became borderline obsessed with learning and reading about the suffering people with uteruses endure when it comes to motherhood (Lyz goes into detail why she chooses to use the word motherhood versus parenthood). This is a perfect blend of memoir and historical analysis. I especially enjoyed the sections on the history of midwifery and male-dominated fetal medicine with the focus on natal care being constantly catered to the fetus instead of the mother. Ahhhh. I want everyone to read this.

This book is absolutely phenomenal. Loved it. It is so informative on the gender binary and warm and funny at the same time.

I am so phenomenally happy that I finally read my first Zora. It was everything I could have hoped for.
