A Sawdust Heart: My Vaudeville Life in Medicine and Tent Shows by Mrs. Henry Wood

I enjoyed reading this one. The life of Henry Wood is really a fascinating one, and my only wish is that the book was longer. This was his life story "as told to" the writer, so it had the tone of more of an oral history than a written one, which I really enjoyed. The problem with that is that it isn't quite as in-depth. I would have loved longer narratives and more detail about this man's travels and career!

Overall: interesting and quick read.

I've never considered myself to be knowledgeable about anything artistic. But this book sort of sucked me right in. I found it terribly interesting, and I learned a great deal about the art industry and the crimes that surround it. 'Priceless' is deeply personal, witty, and (at times) nerve-wracking.

I'd definitely recommend it if you have even the faintest interest in art, government, or international policy. Or even if you don't...you probably will once you're done with it.

I enjoyed this book so much that I gifted it to someone before I had even finished it.

This book was fantastic. I've read plenty of various peoples' memoirs, and his guy told his story in such a unique way. Wilker is great at conveying the attachment a child has to his or her favorite toys or collection, and he uses that attachment to tell the reader about his life, from childhood to marriage.

The chapters are short, which makes it extremely easy to say, "Oh, just one more chapter", which, in turn, makes it very easy to ready this book quickly.

I plowed through this one. It had been on my 'to-read' list for quite awhile, and I finally picked it up. I didn't even realize they were memoirs at first, it reads so like a work of fiction.

So many heartbreaking things happened to these children, but they protected and looked out for one another when their parents couldn't or wouldn't.
