Before I picked up the book I was very intrigued by the magic and the setting of Yale university and the idea of power, politics and influence being a part of the plot. With these expectations I was a bit disappointed. I wanted it to be mainly about the magic used for politics and power, and while it was - it was the personal powers and the politics of the small group of Lethe. Less the societial politics (less, not none).
