Great starting book to what seems to be an intriguing series. Character development was handled pretty well and plot was smooth. Look forward to Hero's Lot.

Part of the reason I rated this lower was simply because it was over-hyped to me. It seemed slow to pickup, no really getting started until almost halfway through the book, and the ending required work I felt. The length of many of the excerpts was a little short I thought, I would have preferred them to be longer. I also feel this book would have been an easy five stars if it was part of a series, preferably a added backstory to a trilogy would have been great.
