I really loved this - I was a little concerned about going straight into the second era of the Mistborn series, having loved the characters of the first era so deeply. I shouldn't have worried. This story is separate enough that I didn't feel like I was betraying the original characters by falling for these ones so fast, yet it still holds so many elements I loved about the original trilogy (including some wonderful easter eggs).

Character-wise, Marasi is iconic and I love her, Wax and Wayne have such a hilarious dynamic, and even the side characters are interesting - I can't wait to delve deeper into this continuation of the Mistborn story.

I’ve really enjoyed this series so far, though book one is undoubtedly my favourite! I will love these characters for a long time, particularly Vin and Elend, I’m hoping that the original crew appear in some form through the second era of the series.

I was a teeeeny bit disappointed by the last couple chapters of book 3, it seemed to wrap up very quickly when considering the time given to the build-up of the story. Definitely an interesting end to the original trilogy, but it remains a great story with wonderful characters and gripping plot lines. I can see why it’s been so popular and wish I’d picked it up before now.

After finishing The Final Empire, I jumped straight into book two, I couldn’t wait to fall back into this world!

Once again, I loved this - the author seems to have this ability to write such rounded characters and it’s impossible not to fall in love with them. Unfortunately that also means I spent 85% of this book desperately wishing I could protect them; from the new struggles they faced as a team and individually, and from themselves at times!

The only reason this isn’t five stars is the amount of ✨miscommunication✨ - it’s flying around everywhere and it’s rather irksome, please just talk to each other, that is all xo

Will be reading book three immediately, with the hope that it’s a worthy conclusion to the original trilogy. What a start to the 2024 reading year!

An amazing start to 2024! I loved every second of being in this world, the writing is so descriptive, it’s easy to imagine every element. I had no idea going into this that it was heist related but this is a trope which never misses for me - I love a heist !! And these characters, oh my god, I love all of them so much and I can’t wait to see what the rest of the series brings for them.

Laughed, cried, nearly had a heart attack at times - first 5 star read of the year is well-deserved.
