My Mom told me recently that my Dad bought a couple of ducks (or maybe geese?) from E. B. White when I was a little girl. My father passed away from stomach cancer when I was 9 and he was 36, so all such stories are truly special. My Dad was enamored with E. B. White, she said, and he was thrilled to have bought birds from him! I thought it was wonderful that E. B. White had actually had those farm animals, and pictured him having a pig and some sheep....probably a few spiders in his barn. You know, good story material!
