This one was a lot harder to follow for me and I'm not sure if it's new narrator (he's amazing! There's just so much more French that I'm unfamiliar with), a more complicated plot that didn't have a lot of the Three Pines characters that we know and love - it was a lot of learning new people / struggling to remember characters from a couple books ago, or if it's just my personal life getting in the way of my fully being able to pay attention to the plot.

Perhaps some of all three.

This is one of those frustrating "lack of communication is the main plot" books

I sat down to read it one night and I DEVOURED it. Single sitting, cover to cover. It felt like a 4.5 star read, I was leaning in to the characters and couldn't wait to finally know more about them and build the connection with them I desperately wanted.
and then it was over
and the connection never happened
and the story climax didn't matter because I never got to care about the characters.

So this story I wanted SO desperately to love, I'm only giving 3.25 stars because it just.... didn't let me connect with the characters. The author kept them at arms length and I can't figure out why.
