Oh, reading this has me missing New Orleans! And I’m craving some beignets too!

This was such a fun cozy read that I just didn’t want to put down. I found the writing style to be quirky and cute with several chuckle-worthy moments sprinkled throughout.

I loved following Kate as she navigates life trying to balance being the guardian for her niece and owning a cafe in New Orleans. I adored Kate's inner monologue, she had me giggling at her rambling thoughts, there often was no filter especially when it came to her love interest, Micah. Seeing the two of them together was so endearing. He was so caring and understanding towards Kate. And watching Kate allow herself to love again and fall in love was so cute.

But it wouldn’t have been nearly as entertaining without some drama! And oh boy, is there drama. We get to watch Kate rival with her ex-fiance, who’s eyeing a potential spot in the French Quarter that Kate’s late sister dreamt of having for their cafe’s second location. Honestly, this story plot was my favorite part to follow. While as much as I loved her romance with Micah, I was solely invested in seeing how this part was going to play out and felt this was the main focus of the book. And not only was there drama with her ex about this location, but also with her parents, more so her mother, which had played into the cafe and the ex-fiance business as well.

Normally, I find myself being able to predict what will happen with contemporary romances, but this one I couldn’t. And I loved that! I had absolutely no idea what was going to happen. I found myself on the edge of my seat trying to guess what was going to happen. But as I continued through the book, more details around her parents and her ex would come out that I didn’t know what to expect.

One other thing I felt noting, is that this is noticeably Christian Fiction. And by that I mean, the focus of religion is very prevalent in this one. I’ve read other Christian Fiction that the touch of religion was very minor, this was one I felt it was more in the forefront in comparison to others. Such as, Kate has a strong belief in god, and we have several scenes set attending church service and see Kate often sending little prayers throughout the entire book. None of this I minded, but I felt worth noting for others. Just looking at the cover and synopsis, I wouldn’t have known this was categorized as Christian Fiction if I hadn’t seen it listed on Goodreads.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed this one! If you enjoy drama-filled contemporary romances with a New Orleans setting, I definitely recommend picking this one up!
