I wasn’t really gone on this one. It was a good easy read but I felt like not much really happened in it. I liked the story that unfolded between Nina and her family but I felt like story of her love life and friendships were a bit predictable. I also found her relationships outside of her family just a bit boring, although it is a very believable story. I do think most women would be able to relate to Nina in at least one way if not more. I would recommend it if you are looking for an easy summer read. I listened to this on audio and the narration was very good and it was a good quick read/listen.

This is such an important story, that opened my eyes to a reality that I have little to no experience with. It is beautifully written and follows the story of Rosie, Penn and their family of 5 as they navigate the world while trying to protect the youngest member of the family.
Rosie and Penn thought they had 5 boys, but as Claude gets older it becomes apparent that Claude is not like there other sons…. He wants to play with dolls, be a princess, wear a dress and be called Poppy. So Claude becomes Poppy. The family are all very accepting  of Poppy and love her no matter what but they are all afraid of what the world outside home will think, say and do, and how they call all protect Poppy and what is the best way to do so.
The book took be by surprise. It is a truly emotional, beautiful and eye-opening read. I would recommend it to all, especially if you want a great understanding of what LGBTQ children go through.

This is such an important book. Everyone should read this. For me it was a truly eye opening read. It is very disturbing but I think is a must read as so so many people, far too many people, go through similar situations. I think those who haven’t gone through something like this struggle to understand or even except that these things happen or how they happen. This book also highlights how different people need to deal with things in different ways and that should be ok too.
