This was the perfect book for me. The right amount of romance, anger, sadness, and happiness all in one book. Sawyer was annoying at times, but I feel a very realistic and relatable character as far as her personality and flaws. This wasn't a sweep-you-off- your-feet romance, and I really appreciate that. Slow burn was the absolute right choice for this book.
Don't get me wrong, the infidelity was BRUTAL. I didn't enjoy reading about someone who thought she was being cheated on, only to go and cheat on him herself.... But I get why the author made the choice to do so. Long story short, Sawyers fiance was a douche and it's gross that he was lying to her right before they were supposed to be married, but I still don't agree with some of her choices.
The last quarter of the book gave me whiplash was not prepared for. Sudden family death, her mom not being helpful, the scene on the stairs!!! But all in all, this was a great book - hands down - the best I've read in awhile. I'm so happy I found it, definitely left me yearning for more. Three cheers for Suzanne Rindell!
