Insane Emperors, Sunken Cities, and Earthquake Machines and his first book Naked Statues, Fat Gladiators, and War Elephants got me out of a reading slump. It also made my love for ancient Rome even more present. I know some of the stuff in both books but I loved how the author told the stories/answered the questions. I will be picking up more books by Garrett Ryan.

This wasn't one of my favorites but I still liked it. I would also still recommend this book to my friends. It was just a little too slow for me and sometimes I didn't feel like picking it up to keep reading.

I loved this, and I could even follow along with the science talk. It made me realize why I enjoyed horror movies even with my anxiety.  It also made me understand where my fear of wasps came from and why it is still here today. It is all because of a horror movie I watched as a child. If Nina Nesseth writes any more books about horror, I will be picking it up. I recommended Nightmare Fuel to a friend even before I finished the book.

I liked this book and how Dawson compared her writing to the other author Catharine Williams. It got a little slow in some parts but picked up again. This is the 4th book I read from Dawson and I will read more from her. I know my friends and family would enjoy this book, along with all her other works.

Did not finish book. Stopped at 40%.
I am going to have to soft DNF this book. I got about halfway through and wasn't in the right headspace to keep going. I will pick it up again later.
