As the opener of an enemies to lovers it does a great job, we get to explore the world through the eyes of a fallen prince which is very creative. Since it is a setup book for the rest of the series romance isn’t yet in bloom but as the story progresses other points of the plot become far more interesting. Will definitely pick up the next book, so that tells you how much i enjoyed this. definitely worth the read
This being Madeline Millers’ first novel is crazy, like idk how she can top this. AND I BET YOU SHE PROBABLY DID.
As someone late to the party (12 years ijbol) I have to say i was not expecting this level of depth to a story I’ve heard a thousand times. It’s truly one of the most tragic gay romance novelizations I’ve ever read, she manages to make you cry even though you always knew the ending. The source material is also handled with such care and thought that it really immerses you into the greek mythos in a way you haven’t since middle school when you first learned about it.
I truly can’t recommend this novel enough as it is breathtaking from start to finish. A MUST READ!

It was a great reading experience and felt like a meaningful (even if bittersweet) conclusion to the overarching story told in the span of the three books. That being said my only criticism is the lack of world building felt in this book in comparison to the first one. Whilst I understand as a conclusion telling a more character and relationship driven story bodes better I still would’ve loved more emphasis on the newly discovered outside world. That being said I would recommend it, a fun read with very sombre conclusion.
I started this book hoping for an all conclusive happy ending for all our heroes after their long and perilous journey. What I got is a love letter to those who just enjoyed these characters all along, their archetypal personalities, their development throughout the story and the magic within them. It’s of course not as good as ‘Carry On’ but it feels like a worthy conclusion to this story of teenage mages figuring their lives out. I would’ve definitely enjoyed a few more answers posed throughout the series but I guess that’s the beauty of the mystery. I’m gonna miss you Simon, Baz, Penelope, Agatha and so many more, It’s gonna be hard to let go of you my dears but I’m happy i got here. Definitely a story worth telling and reading, thanks Rainbow <3.
Ok so, I wasn’t expecting much from this as carry on had ended like a beautiful self-conclusive story. I expected more of a victory lap, monster of the week casual read. Let me just say it wasn’t that, in so many creative ways it expanded upon the already existing universe without sacrificing character development. The way everyone grows throughout the book was unexpected and honestly very entertaining, baz and penelope specially develop in ways i wasn’t expecting. Also, the new characters are really fun and surprisingly deep. If you read carry on and are unsure about continuing the series you definitely should, it’s a great follow up and a complete break from what we knew. Expansive world building it’s definitely the highlight of the piece. Can’t wait to read the next chapter!
Wow wow wow! Didn’t think I’d be this pleasantly surprised by the sequel but here we are. It builds on everything originally set up in part 1 and lets the story unravel magnificently. Such a great execution of enemies to lovers this time around, and I can’t wait to see how the story ends. Damien and Laurent’s arc throughout the novel is very natural and well executed. 10/10 recommend!
O M G??? This book truly is a reflection of how it feels to be a teen/young adult. Somehow everyday is your last and you just have to deal with that. I cannot put into words how emotional this was for me and how happy I am to have read this. It’s such a simple reading experience but i feel like that’s kinda what makes it better. No decorative words or complicated language just two dumb kids who met each other just in time but also incredibly late. It might not be your cup of tea but I sure as hell recommend it. Rufus y Mateo ya me hacen falta :(
Well damn… much like the first book this broke my heart in the end, in a sweet way no less… but still. If you’re interested in the universe and more of the bts of death-cast it’s definitely a must read. It does drag at some points (hence why it took me so long to finish) but overall a good addition to the (now) triology. Loved the easter eggs throughout the book and the storytelling as always devastating yet casual. I recommend it if you wanna flesh out this world even more.
