it's not good at all, it has the subtlety of a tank and it feels like a derogative of never let me go by kazuo ishiguro, without the emotional weight. i get why, the horror in the book isn't the "dystopia" in on itself, but the comparison you can draw with the meat industry, but in that way, you never get the visceral reaction, the slow horror of ishiguro's book.
another thing, treating humans like cattle is not dystopic, it quite literally happened, slavery exists. the human body has been a product for ages, the industrialisation of murder isn't an original invention. it quite literally happened.
the characterisation of the main character was quite all over the place, i don't think i liked it, but it's harder to put my finger on why.
but then, not all was bad, the morbid imagery was well constructed, the descriptions are quite visceral and they made me sick (a good think with this subject matter) and it's very easy to read.
would i recommend it? i don't think so, but it's not really that bad, just one book more.
