i wanted to like this because i did enjoy olga dies dreaming. it took me a while to get into. because she always bring social political commentary into the main character story lines… i feel like most of it is done poorly. Unless it is supposed to be a commentary on identity and coming from countries that have had revolutions but it doesn’t feel like that….
i do enjoy different povs for each chapter and considering this is based on real life, i did enjoy the general storytelling~~~~
however after sitting on it and seeing how things weren’t properly addressed, permission granted, resources added etc…… it’s just yucky
I think xóchitl gonzalez is really good at building strong characters. all the characters feel real and lived in (for the most part).
anyways i also hated every man in this book, not that they were supposed to be likable.

cute cute. felt slow burn to me?? i love friends to lovers. the whole croatia thing was very anticlimactic, but their chemistry was good.
