Did not finish book. Stopped at 48%.
The protagonist is an immature, self-absorbed brat who should have grown out of this behavior ten years prior.

Everything about The Book of Doors screams that I should loved it. Alas, I do not.

This novel is a debut and the author could benefit from more polish -- particularly in the area of character development. He cannot and should not be allowed to write female characters. Our heroine diminishes her own body, complains about what she can't eat, and is overly judgmental -- all stereotypes we all try to overcome as women. It's a turn off, but I kept going because this was one of my most anticipated reads of the year.

There is too little time developing the titular Book of Doors. We find out to early it is one of a collective and no mystery remains. What minor "reveals" exist, were broadcast many pages in advance. As one other reviewer wrote: "This could have been a 5-star read if it hadn't been written by a man." I concur, but even that female author would need more polish and a ton of editing to make The Book of Doors a success. I will not continue with the series.
