Finding out the true 1961 story is incredibly sad. Grief deferred is cruel.
The 1975 story is intriguing and I appreciate the "bow" of an ending, but definitely did not end how I thought it would.

This was such an enjoyable, cozy read (even with the drama). Magic, letters on typewriters, a little enemies-to-lovers, and what a cliffhanger!

A good mix of fact and fiction with a little classic lit thrown in. An enjoyable way to usher in spooky season!

The first half of this I thought was interesting, compelling
Then the second half (furies) begins and the way my mind was Blown at the twists through the very end. Such a brilliantly organized/written novel.
The best book I've read this year

Really enjoyed the writing style and the narrators cadence (I listened to the audiobook)
The story was compelling as well.
A good one

Not the safari I would hope to be on! But an interesting vignette into 1960s Hollywood starlettes and their ability, so it seemed, to do anything they wanted. Some discussions of class and race, many mentions of Achebe's "Things Fall Apart."
