A solid collection of rockstar poets. Not sure the Taylor Swift through line added anything, but a worthwhile prompt to get everyone together.

If one thing can be said about Nicole Jarvis as an author, it's that she has the most stupendous sense of place in her books. Each one, a secret, magical history ready to transport you body and soul within its pages. When I opened A SPELL FOR CHANGE, I swore I could smell Appalachia and feel the early spring wind. And that was only the beginning.

I was enamored by this book, by the way in which magic so naturally flowed through an otherwise simple setting, and by the way these characters came to face some of their greatest fears in a quest to forge a new way of belonging. The family dynamics are engrossing, as are the blossoming relationships.

Jarvis has beautifully crafted something mesmerizing and propulsive, especially in the final 100 pages. And while it's true that no one makes it through this life unscathed, Nora Jo, Kate, & Oliver's intertwining stories offer a necessary kind of hope amidst the onset of evil.

A delight to read these, though I probably could have done with just the first book. I love that Ross has cultivated this practice, regardless. And it does get you to think more deeply about the small moments in a life.
