The characters are diverse in the sense of paranormal,  not race. The main character had annonvious character arc which was annoying at times. Started off slow. Once I got past the first quarter I got into it

Slow burn slow paced who don it. I like fast paced books - thrillers. This book just dragged. Plot twist was good, but too slow for me.

The main character's journey and development lead the story. That's why it's a mix between plot and character. You follow her on the adventure. It's diverse in no white characters - but they are all black. It was slow-paced and tended to like medium to fast-paced book. Fantasy but could of been more adventurous for me.
