i think that the author had some really great ideas but got too caught up in lore and worldbuilding to ensure that the actual plot was engaging and coherent. too much of the action was told via recollection/recounting so it feels very disjointed and confusing at times, and by the end i stopped caring.

i wanted to like this so much more than i did. there’s some interesting ideas in here but there were more threads than i wanted to keep up with and it didn’t quite come together for me in the end.
