I picked this one up because I saw it recommended on TV or on a book list, it is NOT my typical go to type of book. While I can appreciate the style of writing and the story itself, it just wasn't for me. I had a really hard time getting through this book and really struggled with the relationships. I understand it was meant to be a strange situation and there was supposed to be high contrast in lifestyle and lived experience, but it was hard to follow and the style the story was told in did not overly appeal to me. Probably a decent book for a book club with lots of discussion, not so much for leisure reading in my opinion.

Okay, I wasn't exactly sure what to expect with this one. I saw it as recommended for fans of FBAA and ACOTAR so I figured I would give it a whirl. I found the story intriguing and the character development to be pretty good. The world building is a little hard to follow, especially without a map (at least the library copy I read didn't have one). Although despite the lack of a visual, I did enjoy the complexity of the world building and how it occurred throughout the book instead of all at the beginning.

I don't want to spoil anything, but I would recommend this book to fans of a strong badass female MC. I enjoyed the romance, although I always think there could be more spice. Lara and Aren have a great chemistry and I am excited to see what happens in The Traitor Queen.

I have a lot of feels about this book. I will update my review once I process everything. All I can say for now is HIGHLY RECOMMEND READING.
