The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo by Stieg Larsson
4.0
An enjoyable read. I was kept entertained and didn't see the twists and turns before they happened. Steig Larsson isn't the best writer I've ever come across, but then again I'm reading an English translation of a Swedish book so writing style does get lost. Lisbeth Salander is a very interesting character that I'm anxious to learn more about. Blomkvist...not so interesting. I'll read the next two in the series but not right away.
Anyone else notice they practically only eat sandwiches and coffee??

The Mistress by Martine McCutcheon
3.0
Read this book because I like Martine McCutcheon as an actress and was interested to see if she could write. Kept me entertained even though she's not a skilled writer. Guilty pleasure/beach read material. Didn't expect the ending but kind of glad it wasn't predictable like I thought it would be.
The Forgotten Garden by Kate Morton

I like her writing style. She tried to do a lot with this one (three different perspectives) but she made it work. I guessed "the mystery" aspect of it before it was revealed but I think that was intentional. Some characters weren't fully developed (Linus, Christian).
The Last Apprentice: Curse of the Bane (Book 2) by Joseph Delaney

This is the 2nd book in the series and I actually liked this one better than the first one. Series is fantastic. VERY dark for YA.
Kiss the Girls by James Patterson

I was expecting something great and it was just okay. This was my first Patterson book and I have to say I wasn't very impressed. James Patterson isn't a great writer. There were a few memorable scenes but I wasn't blown away. Each chapter is only a page or page and a half long which is why people like his style. Beach-reading.
13 Little Blue Envelopes by Maureen Johnson

Very entertaining and great writing! Attention to detail and made me feel like I was in each city with Ginny.
Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs

Such a cool story and the vintage photographs were both creepy and perfect. Can't wait to read the next one in the series when it comes out.
