AHHHHH SO GOOD!!!! I love Blythe and I’m so happy this book was her perspective. The descriptions of scenery are absolutely beautiful. I loved her journey of coming into her powers and the development of her and Aris’s relationship. Absolutely spectacular
Really enjoyed this book! The smut was great and the romance had such good pacing. I really enjoyed the politics which was surprising cuz usually I am bored by politics in books.
The vibes and concept were good, but the first sexual scene between the fmc and mmc was literally just rape and I knew there’d be more if I kept reading so I decided it was better for my mental health for me to dnf.
Before I get into what I didn’t like lemme just say I did enjoy this book. Here we go..
Truthfully I did not like Roisin. It felt like her character was supposed to have so much depth and intrigue and yet I couldn’t get past how annoying her character was. When Poppy started sleeping with Carmen I felt relieved that she’d hopefully get over Roisin. I found her bland and selfish. And maybe she was, maybe she wasn’t but that was my interpretation of it for sure. I also felt like the aspect of the story regarding Poppy going from being poor to being wealthy wasn’t thought through well enough. Like the was just a switch where one day she was poor and the next she wasn’t and she never felt any guilt about her friends that got left behind. The most we saw was her giving Lizzy a place to live which was great but I felt it was a weak spot in the story. In the end I did enjoy the story, I thought it was well written and had an interesting plot. I really liked the complexity of the relationships between characters. And I did spend the last 10% of the book crying. The prose was very beautiful to read especially in the beginning. I did find the middle to be a bit harder to get through but I think that was just me having issues with the pacing and nothing against the actual writing. Would definitely recommend this book!!!
The storyline and descriptions in this are very beautiful. I did find it hard to understand not sure if that’s due to the prose or my reading slump. I really enjoyed the flowery language in describing Ianthe. The repressed sexuality throughout the story is so well written and so tense it’s great. Overall good just takes extra effort to understand!!
