so good

the idea is great and i love a self-aware narrative style. the story got me hooked from start to finish

there aren’t any complaints: it was a *good* book, and i enjoyed every second of it, it’s not my favorite ever, hence the 4 stars

read it, people

edit: i was thinking and i actually feel like this is a 3 star book, even though i liked it. nothing extraordinary

overall 3.5

this was my first time ever reading poe’s stories and i really liked most of them! some were a bit ok-ish, but nothing i totally disliked.

the reimagined stories, however... i wasn’t completely disappointed because there were stories that hit the vibe just right, but i felt like others weren’t heavily poe-inspired so that made me a bit “meh”

this was bad, boring and i didn’t find one likable character in this entire book.

still asking myself why i pushed through instead of simply dnfing it because this was a total waste of time.

i appreciate the fuck out of this book because it makes mundane marital issues interesting. and because there is a bad bitch wifez

with that being said, i didn’t love this book. after finishing it all i could think was “holy shit this is amazing!!!” but... that’s not true. it was interesting, yes, but i just felt that after letting the story settle down on my mind it was actually underwhelming.

this was a solid book, just not really all that i was hoping, and that’s probably my fault.

(and i did predict the plot twist about the family and about the murders — because it’s kind of obvious?¿ — not that it makes that story less exciting or anything, but it sure adds to the underwhelming feeling this book had for me)

giving it 3 stars now but i may change it later

i still don’t know how to feel about this. i liked some things, dislike others. this was an okay read overall but i don’t really have any special things to say right now.
