This is just a disaster of a book. It's not entertaining, nor does it educate - it's purely trauma and violence horribly detailed for the shock value. The characters are full of contradictions until they become ridiculously farfetched and unsubstantial. Not to mention hard to empathize with. I found myself waiting for the book to end and not caring about the fate of any of the characters. Their revenge plan and execution made them no better than any of their abusers - there was no character development unless you count the constant repeat of the same beliefs over and over again no matter the events that happened as development. No? I didn't think so.

If the goal was to raise awareness about the horrible underworld of skin trade and organ traffickers, it failed miserably after the first few chapters. What is worse is that after the shock passed, it managed to desensitize me to this topic. If the goal was to entertain readers, I simply cannot find even an ounce of joy in the plot resolution. As far as dark romances go, there are better books out there than this one. Waste of time and mind space.

I loved this book. It was the perfect mix of banter, angst and pining, tension and love. Reading it brought me joy, and I couldn't put it down. It is way better than book 1 in this series, plus it had some serious character growth. It warmed my heart. With too many books to count on my TBR, I will still make time to reread this whenever I need a little pick-me-up.
