Whenever I pick up an historical fiction the main thing I look for is that it explores a specific historical moment in a more personal way that what I could otherwise find in history books. I particularly love when I see the people that were part of history as more than historical characters, some of them silenced throughout or even erased from history. The Instrumentalist successfully attempts to do just that, portray Anna Maria as a full-fledged woman, she is ambitious, fierce, and strong, and not always likeable.
The Instrumentalist convinced me from the very first line, and I honestly couldn’t put it down!
Thank you so much to @tandemcollectiveglobal, @bloomsburypublishing and @harriconstable for introducing me to The Instrumentalist and letting me be a part of this readalong with so many great bookstagrammers!!!

She followed the moon back to herself by Amanda Lovelace

By this point I feel like whenever I see a book by Amanda Lovelace I have to read it! Lovelace’s poems always strive to reflect upon real life struggles and moments anyone could relate with. Not every single poem resonates with you, but when it does you feel seen! And hopefully, by the time you turn the last page of she followed the moon back to herself, you feel empowered!
