I’d skip the audiobook if you were thinking of picking it up.

This book broke me in the end! So beautiful, though! Critically thinking, I don't see the need for the last part. The description of the polaroids was enough for the reader to understand what had happened after that night. But it's good to have a clear closure, I guess.

Can this be made a must read for all?

I love the politics of this book. I enjoyed listening/reading it. About the halfway point I saw where this had started to go, I’m not into YA heroes anymore and the second half and the game was very much inspired by stories of such. You can see the influences coming a mile away.

The hero is someone who is beyond the marvel of humankind and he can do no wrong. When he falters in the second half, the consequences aren’t there. They are shrugged aside.

This reads like a first book and from what I understand it is one. I really hope the world is what we explore next and move away from these explorations of ideas cherry picked from books the author read as a tween.
