Good short classic book. If I'd read less books of the kind, I'd have thought it even better. But as is often the fate of classics, a lot of stories have been based off of it, thereby making it more predictable.
Irregardless, it's very atmospheric, and well written, making it a very worthwhile experience to read.

This book is awful, I honest to god recommend staying as far away as possible from it. Notwithstanding, it was so funny to read. Like the story isn't funny, but I enjoy a piece of awful writing every now and again as a stress relief.

Would have been maybe 1.25-2 stars, had it not been for my enjoyment honestly being 4-4.5 stars for all the wrong reasons.

Fantastic horror/mystery book which I can recommend to anyone reading either genre. More mystery than horror frankly though.
Incredibly atmospheric, the first half of the book is quite slow, mainly introducing the setting and characters. When you think that's the point of the book, however, it picks up a bit. Finally the last 20 or so percent is incredibly tense and flows by very very fast.
Great atmosphere and buildup, fantastic climax, the only reason I'm not rating it higher is because, although I will likely come back to this book, it isn't truly important to me personally. If it had been, it'd easily be 4.75 or 5 stars.

Started out very strong, probably stronger than the first book. But by the second half slows down a bit quality wise. Still overall very entertaining, but not nearly as climactic as the first.

Good read for just straight up imagination and fantasy. Fantastic ending to wrap things up, turning it from just relaxing lighthearted fun, into a worthwhile book. Obviously written with a younger audience in mind, but with that in mind, it does mostly hold up for older audiences too imo.
