I don't have the hundreds of words to describe how incredibly perfect on every single aspect and more this book is in regard to my life, what I love and who I am as a person. i shall write more aboute it later. but it is like the inward version of life-changing, a concentrate of everything that Is of me. I can't believe this is genuinely my favourite book that can't possibly be ever topped.

raw note i wrote down afterwards:

the absurdity, the seriousness but also humour about it, the writing, the characterisation, the description of the attacks and wounds, the Love, the fantasy that feels like reading something i would have read as a child but an adult version of it, the mindfuck reality shit, Life, the way you have descriptions of minor characters backstories. Transcendental.
cried the entirety of the last chapter, haven't felt this way this moved on a molecular level in years/ever, even with my favourite films and other books that i so love dearly.
the bittersweetness of the ending, how you will remember it forever. and you get all the explanation you need it's not cryptic as shit very satisfying.
incredibly visual, could easily be adapted into a film

wanted a light-hearted, dumb, quick read, and it served its purpose well in those regards.
considered dropping it 2 chapters in since you get dropped in the story with no explanations, and i found the writing style hermetic at first, but after reading reviews of others saying it gets better (it does), and of someone whose opinion i value, i pushed on.
it's a simple story, simplistic even, i found the romance too easy and underdeveloped, the plot is alright, and i was still entertained. definitely doesn't fly high, but i'm judging it for what it is.
i might read the second volume if i ever feel like picking something for that kind of mood again, though.

edit: the realisation hit me that the person who felt like this used to be Harry Potter fanfiction before has to be right. everything makes sense now 😭lol

the more "academic" parts, about the research, the clinical aspects of the book were interesting to read but few.

good concept, good writing (a couple great lines), but truly nothing special; did nothing for me.

after a 4 month break I picked it up again l, read a couple pages, and realised I don't care about this man's life. considering my very limited amount of life time I would regret forcing myself to keep going, in spite of everyone saying how great it is 😩

picked this up thinking this book was going to be Dark (and wanting it to be), and instead i got a laugh out loud unhinged funny story. Hannah is an insanely reckless and stupid (albeit extremely entertaining) character, but she nonetheless felt really relatable at times.  there are some really great hitting serious lines that I noted down, and which made me want to read more by this author.

the pace was much better than in the previous book, but the plot wasn't the most thrilling.
