Mr. Penumbra's 24-Hour Bookstore by Robin Sloan
Did not finish book. Stopped at 34%.

hate hate hate the characterisation of the main girl, also as someone who hates and doesn't use Google I'm not having the best of time. so sad bc as a web developer I really enjoyed the few bits here and there about programming. the mystery of the library is compelling but as I can't stand the previously mentioned points I'm stopping there.

solely kept reading because of the writing, as I really enjoyed it. the setting was interesting but the plot was so empty and boring and the characters were underdeveloped, and all of that topped with an unsatisfying and (again) incomplete ending.

enthralling read, beautiful plot and writing with compelling characters. a shame it started dragging at the 3/4 mark.

great book, I am a fan of the writing: flowery, vivid, and still simple. sadly I was not as concentrated as I should have been for the good first half of the book. would definitely like to reread with more attention.

great plot, characters and setting. however started to drag towards the end, and like others I wasn't too happy about the descriptions of women but was at least reassured it was "on purpose" and gets better. will read the next one.
