What I thought was going to be an amusing story about teenagers in high school turned out out to be more slutty, horny and smutty than your average teen drama show.
I loved how this book had a plottwist at the end and wasn’t just about the porn.  I had a great time.

I am absolutely in love with this book. The world building is great. The characters are lovable and there is great adventure. I loved the idea of this alternate future where humans eat humans due to a virus because we lived through a pandemic not so long ago. Great LGBTQ+ representation and everything wraps up nicely in the end. Kayla C has definitely done her work. The only thing I ‘disliked’, and dislike isn’t the right word I just think it could have been done less hurried, is when they find the culprit for all the chaos. I thought that went a bit too smooth. But apart from that it was a fantastic read!

Really entertaining story about a strong female lead trying to escape the hands of her husband she was forced to marry.
Strong character development, I grew really attached to some of the people in this book and was utterly shocked by what happened in the last chapter!
If you love historical fiction this is a must read! Alfonso really is a mindfuck of a person, let me tell you that.

3.5

I’m giving this book a 3,5 because while this is an amazingly written book, I still had some issues with it that I can’t overlook.
The characters are very well developed, there’s a good plotline and the writing is (overall) okay. I’m saying ‘overall’ because the author decides to make the MC swear constantly and it happens so frequently that it starts to annoy me. I’m not opposed to swearing but it happens ALOT and often during moments where I didn’t think it was necessary or even appropriate.

Our main character is a real villain and  comes across as a rather annoying person. At times I struggled continuing with the book because I was so upset with the MC and the way they acted. It really went against my personal believes which made it hard for me to continue this book. I also listened to the audiobook of this one and I must say that I didn’t really enjoy the narrator’s voice so that might have put me off.

3,5 is not a bad rating, I overal enjoyed this book and I think the message it’s spreading is really important. I will probably read it again in physical form as I might enjoy that more than the audiobook.

Isabel Allende is an incredibly talented writer who scoops you up and plants you in the lives of others. I felt like I lived this story.
Beautifully written. Both heartwarming aswell as heartbreaking.
