I really thought this was a great book! Super easy relaxing read. The two women characters in this book have the odds stacked against them. Time after time they are told no, but they aren’t going to let that stop them.
So many authentic references to that time period written throughout the book. Was so fun to read about it.
This book will definitely have you laughing along with the characters and their journey. And when you finish, it will leaving you wondering what was your best summer?

The thirty-ninth of her father’s forty-two children, Ruth Wariner grew up in polygamist family on a farm in rural Mexico. In The Sound of Gravel, she offers an unforgettable portrait of the violence that threatened her community, her family’s fierce sense of loyalty, and her own unshakeable belief in the possibility of a better life. An intimate, gripping tale of triumph and courage, The Sound of Gravel is a heart-stopping true story. .

I just finished The Sound of gravel this last weekend and it was truly an amazing book. The unimaginable things that Ruth had to endure is just heartbreaking. As I read page after page I was shocked at the life some of these polygamists choose to live. I can’t even imagine growing up like this. It was an easy read that kept my attention the whole time. If you haven’t read it I highly suggest it.

There are 4 books total and the last one doesn’t come out until January 2020. .
.
The first one which is called STILLHOUSE LAKE is under 300 pages and a pretty quick read. It is a murder/suspense type book with a little bad language throughout. (But I’ve definitely read worse) If you can’t stand the “F” word don’t read this book.

These books don’t have great reviews but I seem to be opposite everyone else when it comes to good and bad reviews. So I decided to go with my gut and read them. Well, I just finished The first one and all I can say is HOLY CRAP!!! I did not see that coming!
The book starts out with the lead female character discovering her husband is a serial killer. She must escape his torment and the droves of online groupies out to hunt her down. They think she was his helper in these murders. Will she be able to escape this mess and move on with her life? You have to read it to find out!
I just got the 2nd one today and I’m so ready to see what happens! .

I so badly wanted to like, no love this book. But in the end it was a complete let down for me. The book started out good with little attention grabbers to keep you reading. But I found moving forward that I lost interest, I kept putting the book down and not wanting to pick it back up.
.
There were so many spots in the book that were unbelievable. Like how can the people in the rest area not hear all the noise in the bathroom? How can you not hear the screaming? I wanted to reach into the book and knock some sense into them. I thought this story seemed to drag on. I wasn’t surprised by the characters either, I figured they were all connected somehow. I will say that the authors writing style was good and the book was easy to read, but it just lacked what I wanted from a thriller. .

When I picked up this book to read it, I wasn’t sure how I was going to like it. Based on a 5 year olds point of view I was worried.
Boy was I wrong! This book was so well written and amazing! I was so caught up in it and hand a hard time putting it down. The bravery from both the mother and the child is something I’ll never understand. The hardships, the trails and the torture they endured is unimaginable.
I highly suggest this book!
