I read it in a day, which was kind of disheartening because it was pretty short, but that aside it was incredible but completely unrelatable to me but a great story nonetheless.

A lot of anguish and turmoil, a lot of parts where I held my breath. Great book, but some parts were annoying.

What in the world lmao huh!?

You did not have to end it like that *opens Google to buy sequel* FINE Leigh Bardugo.

The world building is pretty crazy and easy to visualize. I pictured a dirty and rough Amsterdam alley most of the time and I was really curious about the language of names/places/sayings. There’s a lot of thought behind it. Some beautiful moments of friendship, love and ambition.

Super happy with it being my last book of the year!

I really loved the diversity as well.

So. Mini spoiler.

I think I ruined the book for myself from being a 5/5.
The tik tok hype made me think I’d fall out of my chair, and I probably would’ve if I wasn’t anticipating a big plot twist. I think it dragged in certain areas.

I would’ve liked to see Cadence maybe buy a ticket to NYC yo find Gats gf to get some closure or something - I enjoyed the book but I think I wouldn’t be mad giving it away in a book swap. The book is soaked in privilege and has way too many characters.

I didn’t cry. I didn’t really feel any compelling emotion. Tbh I was glad to be done but also can recognize it was a good book.

Really good book to get back into fantasy, I really missed the way I used to finish books like this in a week. It was a rough start but eventually swooped me up!

LET’A GET INTO IT BABBBYYY spoilers !!!!✨✨

9/5-12/15
If there’s one thing imma do it’s read tf out of some enemies to lovers books, I mean get out of here. I honestly was shook at the beginning with the parents being killed. Afterwards the pace was a bit slow but picked up the more I understood the world they lived in. It’s a great book to get back into fantasy and a great mountain house read, not that I’m living in luxury like that mid-pandemic but still felt like something to cozy up to and spend time on to get over some pacing hurdles. The characters were lovely and I HATE LOCKE he can get these hands and frankly, everyone can! There’s no one to fall in love with cause everyone has faults.

If you like the whole GOT fantasy land of dystopia and oppression, this is your book! I bought the second of the series 4 chapters in, if that says anything.

son of a !!!!! Hold the phone @ God!
⭐️⭐️ Love from A to Z by S.K. Ali is about a Muslim girl who gets suspended and gets flawed out to Doha to spend her spring break out of town (lmao my parents would’ve put me on a one way flight to Somalia bruh) and it just drips privilege and catastrophe after another like I appreciate the story but it was like unrelatable. As a black Muslim girl that’s nonhijabi, the xenophobia and islamophobia is different bc I’m not “outwardly obviously Muslim” but I can’t imagine but like wouldn’t the book have been better not centered in a Muslim country to show more of the judgement and biases??? Also, very grateful to have learned more about MS. The main character also constantly gets her friends in trouble and of course she has fits with anyone who’s not as aware as her which I understand but she’s like so defensive the entire book it made me anxious haha. I’m just disappointed. I have not liked the last four books I’ve read and this sinkhole is getting bigger! I’m not even this picky and critical, it’s just books I thought would be relatable ...aren’t. Sigh. Help me out, what do y’all think I’d like?!
