This book was incredibly difficult to get through but very rewarding. This does have some spice in it but it’s definitely not a spicy fun-time book. Jennifer Hartmann does not pretend that love fixes all, and I really appreciate the inclusion of PTSD and the mental toll a trauma like this would take on both the lead characters. Major trigger warnings for kidnap, rape, and sexual assault, picture a Criminal Minds episode but with a happy ending. It takes a long time to get there but it’s worth it.
