Assayed to be lered, my lord.

Yeah, it was for uni but my favourite line out of context was:
'we were so rad.'
In context it means frightened but I'd rather imagine the soldiers having a frat party and then realising oh shit jesus left

Did not finish book.
Ugh, first DNF of the year. I picked it up because I love a good adventure novel or film but this was unbearable to get through. Sexism, not like other girls, unnecessary comments on ‘thick non-understandable Thai accents’ and that was just the first chapter. NOPE!

This had the makings of a 5-star read for me, but unfortunately, the execution fell a bit flat. It's still a fun, cosy fantasy romp, though!

Absolutely terrible, but it's entertaining.

I will say, though, that it doesn't take a lot to see a colonial reading in the world-building.
