Sjongejonge, wat heb ik heerlijk genoten van dit boek. Ik zat er gelijk in. Natuurlijk wist ik van te voren dat ik dit boek leuk zou vinden, het is ten slotte geschreven door Nadine Swagerman, maar de bevestiging is toch wel goed.
Dit las heerlijk snel en makkelijk, ik ging er zo doorheen. Ik kon het boek ook amper weg leggen. Ik had eigenlijk andere plannen voor vanmiddag en zou alleen een stukje lezen totdat de bezorger voor de deur stond, maar ik ben daarna gelijk weer verder gelezen.
Ik heb nog een boek van Nadine gekocht voor de 2+1 Kluitman Novelle actie and ik kan niet wachten om die ook te verslinden.

I liked this one a bit better than the first volume. I don't think I really like SG, it felt like they kind of abandoned Socks pretty easily. I did start liking Socks, so maybe that's why I liked this volume more than the others.
I'm not sure if I'll read volume 3 and 4. This ending feels satisfying enough for me to stop. Maybe if I come across volumes 3 and 4 on sale I might.

The art is very pretty, however some pages were difficult to read. Sometimes a panel was drawn over two pages, making the middle unreadable. While the anxiety and depression parts are relatable, I still feel like I barely know the main character. I mean, I didn't even know their name until nearly the end. I also have no clue what pronouns they use. I like the concept of them being drawn as ghosts, but it does make it difficult keeping characters apart.
Overall I liked this, but the only reason I'm reading volume 2 is because I already own it. Otherwise I don't think I would have continued this series.

I think I enjoyed this more than the first book in the series. And oh, I adore Billy so much. It's nearly 2 in the morning and I need to wake up in less than six hours... oops.

Wow, what a gorgeous book! Immediately the illustrations made me interested to read it.
I love learning about history, but often big non-fiction books are too much information at once. That's why when I saw this I was immediately curious. Books for younger ages are often more clear and a fun way to learn, and that is exactly what happened!
This book tells the story of a war between Ancient Egypt and Persia. I don't know about education in other countries, but here in The Netherlands I never learned about this in school.
I really enjoyed this as an adult (well, as adult I can be at 20) and I can only imagine how fun this book would be for children. It is beautifully illustrated, the cat puns made me laugh, and the explanation is clear and easy to read. I definitely would recommend to kids (and adults!) who enjoy history or cats. I'm sure they would enjoy this book as well. I have absolutely nothing negative to say.

Oofff ik ging hier dus met grote verwachtingen in want de Nederlandse boekstagram was heel positief over dit boek. Het is al een tijdje terug dat ik een Nederlandse thriller heb gelezen, maar toen ik jonger was smulde ik daar echt van. Ik lees eigenlijk überhaupt amper Nederlands tegenwoordig, maar toen ik opzoek ging naar Nederlandse jeugdthrillers werd ik toch weer nieuwschierig.
Het ding is, ik kon totaal niet in het boek komen. Het kleine moment dat je Claire leert kennen voor dat het verhaal begint vond ik haar niet echt bepaalt leuk. Ik stoorde me ook best erg aan het taalgebruik. Misschien zijn jongeren in de steden zoals Amsterdam zo, maar ik heb nog nooit iemand ook echt zo horen praten als deze personages. (Ik ben 20, dus niet veel ouder dan de personages in dit boek.)
Omdat ik Claire niet echt leuk vond en het taalgebruik nogal cringy, kon ik er dus zo niet inkomen dat ik het niet eens spannend vond. Dat vond ik nog het meest jammer, ik had zin in een goede thriller.
Misschien paste het verhaal niet zo goed als een novella. Het voelde allemaal een beetje te snel. De 24 uur was veel te snel voorbij.
Even wat positiever: het boek las wel snel en comfortabel, wat voor mij een kunst is want normaal lees ik Nederlands lang niet zo snel als Engels. Naast wat ik net noemde, vond ik de schrijfstijl wel redelijk goed. En natuurlijk extra bonus punten voor de lgbtq+ rep!
Al in al was dit boek niet echt weggelegd voor mij, maar ik kan best snappen dat andere dit geweldig vinden. En het is natuurlijk een 13+ boek, dus het maakt niet zoveel uit wat ik als 20-jarige vind. Ik geef het boek eigenlijk 2.5☆ sterren, maar houd het op Goodreads als 3 zodat het niet te veel invloed heeft op de rating.
Ik weet niet of ik van plan ben het vervolg te lezen, we zullen zien. Maar ik ben wel van plan meer Nederlandse jeugdthrillers te lezen, of gewoon meer Nederlands.

This book was absolutely delightful! I'm not sure if I've ever falling love with a character that doesn't have a POV as I've fallen in love with Frederick. This book had me laughing out loud so many times that I was glad to be home alone, and I devoured it in one day.
This one is DEFINITELY going in my favorites of all time list!!
I was very glad no third act breakup happened. I LOVE it when books skip this cliché because it is always unbearable to read.
The kidnapping at the end of the book felt a little too easy to solve. I feel like I should take off 0.25 for that, BUT I didn't really mind that it was fast.
