Margot is a bestselling romance author ✍️ Her world comes crashing down when her readers find out she’s a secret love hater *gasp*. How is she going to fix this? 💡Oh! By spending six weeks in the middle of nowhere Alaska, meeting the grumpiest lumberjack-looking-doctor-turned-caregiver-with-sexy-forearms named Forrest (aka Mountain Daddy). She just has to resist the real-life swoon worthy tropes thrown at her. Easy peasy! 😅

💫 Strangers to lovers
💫 Caregivers for family
💫 Chronic illness rep (not MC)
💫 Bullwinkle the (almost) domesticated moose
💫 Taylor Swift references
💫 Swoony micro-tropes
💫 Dual POV, first person

This is a STUNNING debut novel. I loved it  🥹 The writing was so funny, full of banter and the concept of a romance writer living in her own tropes was so good. This book was a love letter to the romance genre, to family love and the hope of finding your Happily Ever After, even through the ups and downs of life 💕

No longer supporting this author as she has racist stereotypes in one of her books. This was pointed out by sensitivity readers and nothing was changed before publishing. Don’t feel comfortable supporting an author who would publish that and hard the Black community.

Ziggy and Holt meet at an event. He doesn’t know she’s pregnant. She thinks he’s a lacrosse player. What happens when he asks her to house sit for him (and his dog) for a few weeks while he’s oversees? He gets injured and they end up being accidental roommates 😎 They’re stubborn…. And what’s worse? He’s a rugby player and she’s the league owner’s daughter 😳

💫 Secret relationship (off limits)
💫 She’s pregnant (an accident & not his)
💫 Sassy dog named Jessica (she’s an a-hole)
💫 Dual POV, single person

This was a goofy and fun rom-com! Ziggy and her love of potatoes in all formats is me. Holt was so sweet to her 💕 The way they became a family was just the best. And dog Jessica? She’s a whole mood and a full character in this book 🐶

Wankwaffle is a new word added to my vocabulary 🤣

This book should have a long trigger list. However, I enjoyed some parts. Some parts the pacing was off. I was intrigued at the beginning and the middle was super repetitive, but I liked seeing their relationship progress with him and the kids.

The end TOTALLY LOST ME. Fully. The book built up and then did a complete 180. There was not enough closure in the end either with what happened.

To me, this book was emotionally devastating and not in a good way. Only read it if you want to contemplate the sad unpredictable nature of life.
