The class I student taught in is obsessed with the Dog Man books, so I wanted to give it a try! I can definitely see why the kids love it as there is this lifelike child narrative voice and style to it. From a teacher standpoint, I appreciate how it shows George’s spelling mistakes. It shows the word crossed out and rewritten. Modeling of mistakes and corrections is so beneficial for these kiddos. It’s a very simplistic story, great for those reluctant readers.

Holy s**t this book. This book. It needs to be gifted to everyone in the world. It should be required reading in schools.
This graphic memoir describes Darrin Bell’s experience growing up Black in America. He writes/illustrates his own personal encounters while also depicting current and national events. We get to witness Bell’s life from 6 years old to him growing up and having kids of his own, having to decide if he wants to have The Talk with them.
This was an incredibly powerful read and I highly recommend it.

Mansies dyed his hair and gained a whole new personality LOL
I really loved this volume! Yuki and Itsuomi take their relationship to the next step as they decide to move in together and he meets her parents. This volume also shows how much Itsu has learned sign language as he is able to interpret for Yuki now. Makes my heart all warm.

This series is just so cute! Yuki specifically is more confident in their relationship in this volume. I love how trusting, communicative, and considerate Yuki and Itsuomi are with each other.
