JOURNEY: A long journey is very common in fantasy books, though the only one I think of is the LOTR movie, which bored me to tears. I assumed all journey stories would be similar, so I've tried to avoid them. However, this one surprised me - it kept me hooked the whole way through and, at times, pushed me to the edge of my seat.

SYNOPSIS:
A lady warden bands together with unlikely allies to research an unknown weapon of mass destruction from the people who shouldn't have it, if it exists.

MY THOUGHTS:
I really, really loved this book. I was deeply invested and immersed in the story. I couldn't wait to pick it up to follow the character's journey some more.

Which, speaking of characters, it would be impossible for me to pick my favorite. There are two main characters, both of which I love for different reasons. The secondary characters are just as thought out with their own stories, lives, goals, etc. You could feel the emotions they had and the connections between them all.

I really enjoyed that there were a few times during this book that were unpredictable. I'm pretty good at predicting plots, events, twists and turns, so it was refreshing to experience something unexpected.
