Unbroken Bonds by J. Bree
3.0
I am so confused on how to rate this book, as it feel like I am rating the whole series in one go.
And while it started with a slow burn and a 5 ⭐, I ve ended up wanting to rate some of them a 3 or even a 2!
It got slow and boring in a lot of phases, I swear the whole series had about 500 pages too much that it needed. Going back and forward and ending with a rush fight, that didn't made a lot of sense. These books has too many pages and yet they left us with so many questions and plot holes.
Omf, I had so many hopes for this, after the first book and I was so disappointed with the last book.

A Family Affair by Harper Bliss
This is my first Harper Bliss book... Saying that, I may have started off with the wrong book.
I am trying to rate this book, not according to its story, but the way it's written and the development of the characters etc.
I was drawn to this book, and although I hate the cheating trope, as I was cheated in a couple of my past relationships, I didn't feel the need to DNF it. I read it in a go, and I liked the way the relationship developed, the awakening of the feelings, and the idea that not everything was easy. And this was a solid 4 star for me. Until, the ending...

Spoiler
That been said... the ending made me through the book in the air... Not even a cheesy movie would dare to give that ending.
The Do-Over by Lynn Painter
5.0
I am in love with Nick...
In love...
Lynn Painter almost never disappoints, her books are quick, fun and full of appropriate romance. If you are looking for a beach read this summer or a quick rom com look no further.
This book, although a bit predictable, has all the elements needed for a nice romance, a fun read or even better a 5 stars audiobook, as you can't hide your happiness when listening to it.
And dear, oh dear I wish I could find an equivalent with adults around 30-40, as a feel a bit weird being in love with a minor

This is not everyone's cup of tea, but to those that look for a historical book, with a bit of sorrow and reality, this is up you alley (or Back Alley
Den of Vipers by K.A. Knight

My first DNF for 2023...
I don't know how you can go through almost 700 pages without a plot. There is literally no interest in this book, no plot. I tried to read it and I also tried the audiobook which was soooo much worse because of Diesel's voice and grunting.
So these men kidnap a woman because her father sold her, the author never explains, why, or even why they choose to do it at that point of time, you would expect this to have something to do at least with birthday etc, but no, they just decide to take her a random night.
I got up to chapter 28, I struggled to get there as there was no plot, nothing to hook on, nothing to wait for.

Yellowface by R.F. Kuang
3.0
Erm... This was my first book of R.F. Kuang, and I think I f***ed up because if I didn't had already the Poppy War and Babel in my audiobooks, I wouldn't have picked another book by her.
Her writing style is perfect, but this book didn't do anything for me. I didn't care about June, and I know I was supposed to feel frustrated with her, this was supposed to create bad feeling from me about her, but nothing was coming.
And the ending... oh well, its like this review. Just not anywhere and it gave nothing.
