Sweet Talk by Cara Bastone
4.0
I am officially obsessed with Cara Bastone’s writing! Her characters are easily lovable, and the chemistry and conversation always feels so natural. I also love that that the characters are never the typical Male/Female archetypes. Elliot is a teddy bear, sweetheart of a man dealing with a trauma, and JD is a tough, badass chick taking care of all the men in her life. It’s honestly a beautiful representation of humanity.

I feel like this book could’ve been shorter. Despite that, it was a good read. I didn’t get as emotional as I thought I would, which is why I didn’t rate higher. With that being said, the story was very beautifully told. It is a great look into how feelings of guilt manifest in different people, and what it could mean to finally forgive yourself.
Kellan was more than just a tortured soul, he was a talented and multidimensional. If only he could have given himself more time.
The relationship between Charlotte and Tate was expected, in my opinion, as the story unfolded.
My biggest takeaway, surprisingly, was Terry’s character development. There were quite a few times I was expecting malicious intent from him, only to be extremely impressed. His redemption arc was my favorite part of the entire story.
