January 2014--- AHHHHHHHH I love Harry potter :) Ginny+Harry for life!

I refuse to be happy with my life unless I become or fall in love with either a wizard or a vampire :(

November 2018— my previous statement about Ginny+Harry for life is still true. I used to always say this was my favorite out of the 7. I’m not sure if that is still true because they are all so amazing.

October 2020-- I once again think I want to reinstate the fact that this one is my favourite... although they really are all amazing. I have read/seen this story so many times yet every single time I still cry over Dumbledore :(

October 2024– I started this reread because I was playing the game Quidditch Champions for platinum and this was the perfect thing to accompany as I was grinding for trophies. I once again cried when Dumbledore died. And once again I forgot about the perfection that is Harry and Ginny in the books and was absolutely giddy with excitement as reading those parts. Now that I’ve gotten into fanfiction I’ve decided I need to find a good fanfiction to fill in those hidden moments in Harry and Ginny’s relationship during this book. I actually was reading Manacled while I read this and it was interesting picking out all the small things that had to change from this cannon universe to create the multiverse reality that is the Manacled version of events. I could see a lot of the facts from the real book that the author of Manacled took and twisted/adjusted the outcome of to make Manacled happen.

I absolutely loved the beginning and the ending. But everything in the middle was not so great. I just couldn’t get into it. It was sort of a chore to get through.

I’ve just been in a negative sort of mood lately. I felt like I was distracted while I read this and could therefore not appreciate it as much as I should have. There is a Goodreads review by someone named Michael that has well over a thousand likes that I read afterwards and they made it sound so beautiful and detailed and purposeful. I feel like we read totally different books. I want to read the book that he read and to appreciate it the way he appreciated it.

The whole time I was reading it I kept thinking that ghost stories are much better as visual adaptations. With the jump scares and ominous music in the background. The audiobook has some spooky music moments at transitions and those were probably the best parts of the book.

I don’t know. I didn’t love it. It was just okay. At points I was even bored. There is so much hype about this book and it was really disappointing given my high expectations. Maybe the movie is better.
