Rae makes her first visit to a kink club looking to experience subbing for real, outside her world of fiction. When she visits, the club is doing speed dating. One of the clubs silent partners is there and decides she needs some hands on experience and helps her out, after establishing that this is a one time thing. Imagine their surprise when they both go to work the next day and find out they now work together… and they have to share an office. Shenanigans and chaos ensue.
I liked that the kink aspect was properly discussed, the club having a good vetting process and kicking out a creep who made it through the process, establishing consent checks and safe word systems, having a yes, no, maybe list and knowing the list can change, etc. However for being a Dom forward kink book there actually wasn’t that much kink? There one spanking scene, but for as often as the characters thought about it, it didn’t really happen beyond that. And not everyone is into impact play/needs that kind of kink, but for as often as both mcs referenced floggers and restraints… we never actually saw them used. I know this wasn’t an erotica so it makes sense for there to not be balls to the wall sex all the time but most of it was fairly tame in my book.
I loved seeing Rae’s growth and her learning the ability to say no and stop being a complete pushover/people pleaser. It was also great seeing Grant open up and learn to let Rae in, as well as the cat that was clearly telling him she adopting him too.
The plot of who is trying to sabotage the company with information on the dark web was very obvious and it was just a matter of waiting for the characters to finally put it together. It would have been nice if that aspect was a little more who done it instead of knowing from jump who the bad guy is and pretty early on knowing how they’re getting the info and what they’re goal is.
Overall the vibes were great, it was a fun time.
