I found myself getting very distracted by all the plot holes in this book. I hoped that at the end it would tie everything together, and I was just left with more questions. It was gloriously disgusting and a bit intriguing, but in the end, it just sort of fell flat for me.

She is mute but not deaf? Or deaf? She hears people whispering and can understand them even in the dark/across the way? But signs everything? And everyone automatically knows how to sign as well?
Most of the book is riding through the damn forest.
The guy is 300 years old.
