I'd give it more of a 2.5. A simple little novella with Anita doing a plain old predictable zombie raising case. The big plus here being that she gets to leave St Louis and her not so little harem of men behind, meaning only one sex scene...and 5 hunorous pages of Micah's 'woe is me, my penis is too big' speech.
Overall, not too bad. Although im already fed up of Anita's total Mary Sue-ism. How many powers are they going to give her?

The second book in the series is a bit better than the first, which suffered the usual series debuts of having to understand the world and the charcaters not being familiar. In this one however, the world the author has created is definitely more fleshed out and has a uniqueness to it in comparison to other urban fantasy series, and the characters feel more fleshed out, with Kate Daniels being one of the more stand out lead heroines I've read in a while.

The story this time deals with Gods, of the celtic and greek variety...so it sometimes feels that it is sliding into more of a fantasy storyline, but that didn't put me off as much as it usually would. It also has the lead taking care of a little kid, who is not annoying...which is always a good trait to have in a child in these types of stories.

I was hoping for more descriptions of the big battle scene that takes place at the end, as it feels a little glossed over in places, but overall, a good read and a series I will definitely continue with.
