As a fan of the series, this was a fun read for me. However, I don’t think I would have enjoyed this book if it didn’t involve Mulder and Scully. The plot was interesting enough, but I wasn’t super invested in the story. I also got the vibe that the writer was infatuated with Scully, as he barely described Mulder (I think he said he had puffy hair and that was the extent of it), but described Scully in detail including the size of her breasts. Overall, this book was okay but it doesn’t make me want to read any of the other X files books if I’m being honest.

Was this book a little cheesy and did it remind me of Twilight a bit? Yes. Did I stay up until 3:30am binge reading the whole thing in one sitting? Yes... yes I did.

I honestly couldn’t put this book down. The plot captivated me, the characters drew me in, and the mystery of it all kept me wanting to read more. I was surprised to find this book had a lot of action and was pretty fast paced, as I thought it would be more of a low-key mystery with a splash of romance. However, I wasn’t disappointed when that wasn’t the case.

As much as I liked the romance between Raven and Kaden, there were some aspects of it that made me a bit uncomfortable. I’m not going to go into detail because I don’t want to spoil anything, but there were just some things I wasn’t super into.

Overall, I enjoyed this book! I think it’s a great debut novel, especially for one that the author started writing in high school. I gave up sleep to read this book and I think that says a lot. I recommend this book to people out there that love YA romance with a supernatural element, especially if you’re a fan of Twilight.
