I wanted to dock this book 0.5 stars because of a few lazy/repetitive plot points and some things in the last 50 pages of the book that I thought could have been executed better, but I ultimately can’t bring myself to do it as I truly love this book (and series) so much. It deserves 5 stars in my opinion. I’m sad I’m finished reading the series, but I’m ultimately very satisfied with the ending we got.

I just finished this book and overall it was ok. In the end though, nothing was ever particularly scary to read and the pacing of the second half threw me off. I think if the ending was different I might have given this half a star more, but it just seemed rushed and certain details seemed to be added simply for shock value (trying not to spoil the end of the book). Overall, this book didn’t really impress me and would have been rated lower if it wasn’t for the addition of Isaak the dog; who was my favourite part of this story

Overall I didn’t hate this book, I just think it wasn’t for me. The writing was beautiful at times and I understand the symbolism of it all, but the pacing threw me off and I really had no interest in the story. Going to try reading this again because I know how much people love it and maybe I can get something more out of it on my second go.

This book is both heartwarming and heart-wrenching at the same time. I found myself really feeling for the characters, and I loved reading everyone’s different perspectives. I really wish things ended differently, but I ultimately still enjoyed this book from beginning to end.
